Literature Text

That I could see you again, mouth wide and hands high.
For we were the same, you and I:
Both understanding the limits of affection,
The need for direction,
Both burning bright in the shadows of our brothers,
Both with stunted hearts of lovers.
It was our pride to stand on the crossroads, and hold
To honour and blood, and to new against old.
And you were the stronger, and I was the steadfast,
Each anchored the other for future and past.
To lose my ebullient echo completely -
No Spring to hope for, no body to bury…

They are mistaken who think me cold.
I burn, I burn for all that was sold.
Written for Remus, a character in the Lorien Trust LARP system and my pretend nephew.

I don't normally handle arrhythmic poetry well, so am in two minds about whether to leave this as is or give it a set metre. Thoughts and constructive criticism would be much appreciated!
